Serving Millions, One Meal at a Time: Balyam’s Sabarimala Seva
In the sacred pathways leading to Sabarimala, where faith brings together millions of pilgrims each year, one thing remains constant — the need for seva.
Since 2009, Balyam has been part of this divine movement — not as an organization seeking recognition, but as a team of quiet servers. For over 15 years, we’ve set up free food stalls, distributed water, arranged medical support, and provided rest shelters for pilgrims who often walk barefoot across harsh terrains with nothing but trust in their hearts.
What started as a small initiative by a few volunteers has now become a massive annual operation that touches the lives of millions.
Our Sabarimala seva is not just about annadaan. It’s about meeting people in their most vulnerable moments — when they are tired, hungry, in pain, or overwhelmed — and reminding them that seva is still alive in this world.
We serve with folded hands and open hearts. No one is ever asked about their religion, language, or donation capacity. They are served because they arrived. That’s enough for us.
Why We Continue Every Year Without Fail
Sabarimala is not just a religious journey. It’s a test of body, mind, and spirit. And many who come — especially the elderly, disabled, or poor — arrive without proper preparation or support.
That’s where Balyam steps in.
We provide hot meals, clean drinking water, first-aid help, sleeping mats, and guidance. Many of our volunteers sleep in open areas, cook overnight, and travel long distances just to be of service. It’s tough. It’s tiring. But it’s sacred.
Every plate we serve feels like an offering. Every smile we receive becomes our blessing.

“Faith walks. Seva waits.”
We don’t go to Sabarimala to be seen. We go there to see — the tired eyes of pilgrims who just need a place to rest, the cracked hands of elderly men holding prayer beads, the silent tears of women who made it through pain and prayers.
