Feeding Hope: 18 Years of Serving with Heart
In India’s forgotten lanes, hunger doesn’t knock. It waits — quietly, every single day.
For over 18 years, Balyam has stood between that hunger and the children who suffer from it. We didn’t start with a grand plan. We started with 7 children, one rented room, and a promise: no child should sleep without food, shelter, or dignity.
We’ve now served over 1,00,000 meals — not as charity, but as commitment. From Hyderabad to Sabarimala, where our annual service reaches millions of pilgrims, our plates carry more than food. They carry warmth, familiarity, and survival.
Our kitchen isn’t just steel and fire. It’s built with hands that care — volunteers, mothers, young adults, retired elders. Together, we serve not just rice and curry… we serve hope.
Why Food is the First Step to Dignity
When a child receives regular food, their mind learns to dream.
They can sit in school without dizziness.
They can grow without guilt.
They can play, sleep, and smile like they were meant to.
What We’ve Built So Far:
-
Served over 1,00,000 meals to orphaned and semi-orphaned children.
-
Daily food support to 44+ children aged 5 to 18 living at Balyam Home.
-
Seasonal food kits to HIV-affected families and abandoned elders.
-
Mass distribution kitchens during Sabarimala yatra every year since 2009.
